We are seeking experienced Computational Life Sciences Experts with strong scientific programming skills to design, develop, and validate complex tasks for training and evaluating advanced AI agents. This role focuses on creating realistic, multi-step scientific workflows that require AI systems to independently inspect scientific data, write and execute code, use computational tools, troubleshoot intermediate results, and produce scientifically accurate, verifiable outputs.

The objective is to evaluate whether AI agents can perform authentic computational life sciences research rather than simply answer scientific questions or reproduce memorized information. Successful candidates will combine advanced life sciences expertise with practical programming and computational research experience to develop rigorous, reproducible, and objectively assessable tasks.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Illustration and Sketching: Create high-quality illustrations, sketches, characters, environments, and visual compositions based on project briefs and creative guidelines.
• Style Adaptation: Reproduce and adapt a wide range of artistic styles while maintaining visual accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.
• Visual Quality Control: Ensure appropriate composition, lighting, color balance, textures, shading, and rendering quality across all deliverables.
• Creative Interpretation: Translate written instructions and visual references into compelling artwork that meets the intended aesthetic and project objectives.
• Artistic Variations: Develop multiple versions of illustrations while preserving the required style, composition, and key visual elements.
• Documentation and Metadata: Maintain clear documentation of prompts, artistic decisions, style references, and relevant metadata associated with each output.
• Collaboration and Feedback: Work effectively with project teams, incorporate feedback, and refine artwork according to quality standards.
• Production Readiness: Review final illustrations for completeness, consistency, and adherence to specifications before submission.
• Deadline Management: Manage multiple assignments efficiently while maintaining high standards of creativity and execution.

Required Artistic Expertise

Candidates should demonstrate versatility in several of the following illustration styles:

• Sketching and Drawing: Pencil sketches, hand-drawn illustrations, line art, and detailed drawings.
• Cinematic and Film Noir: Dramatic lighting, atmospheric compositions, high-contrast visuals, and cinematic storytelling.
• Steampunk: Mechanical designs, industrial aesthetics, vintage technology, and intricate detailing.
• Surreal, Dreamlike, and Psychedelic Art: Imaginative compositions, abstract elements, unusual perspectives, and experimental visuals.
• Cyberpunk and Science Fiction: Futuristic environments, advanced technology, dystopian settings, and sci-fi character design.
• Art Deco and Art Nouveau: Decorative patterns, ornamental details, stylized forms, and distinctive historical aesthetics.
• Vintage and Retro Art: Nostalgic illustration styles, retro-inspired compositions, and period-specific visual treatments.
• Glitch and Vaporwave: Digital distortion effects, unconventional color palettes, retro-futuristic aesthetics, and experimental digital art.

Required Qualifications

• At least 3 years of professional experience as an Illustrator, Sketch Artist, Cartoonist, Concept Artist, or in a closely related role.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating versatility across multiple illustration styles and techniques.
• Excellent understanding of composition, color theory, lighting, perspective, texture, and visual storytelling.
• Proven ability to illustrate, paint, and render characters, scenes, objects, and environments.
• Ability to accurately reproduce artistic styles and follow detailed creative specifications.
• Proficiency in digital illustration workflows and relevant creative software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.
• Ability to work independently, incorporate feedback, and meet deadlines in a remote environment.

Preferred Tools and Software

Experience with one or more of the following tools is preferred:

• Adobe Photoshop: Digital painting, image editing, texturing, and illustration.
• Procreate: Digital drawing, sketching, and painting.
• Adobe Illustrator: Vector illustration and scalable graphic artwork, where required.
• Affinity Suite: Digital illustration, image editing, and creative design.
• Clip Studio Paint: Illustration, character design, sketching, and line art.

Candidates should be comfortable selecting the appropriate tools and techniques based on the artistic style and requirements of each assignment.

Engagement and Work Schedule

This is a 4-week, full-time contractor assignment requiring 40 hours of work per week, with at least 4 hours of daily overlap with PST.

The engagement follows a pay-per-task compensation model. The exact candidate payment rate has not been specified and should be confirmed before the assignment begins. The contract does not include medical benefits or paid leave.
