Lawyers can find paid AI training work: on 14 October 2026 this site listed 64 open legal roles at 8 platforms, and 61 of them post an hourly rate. The median listed rate was $110 an hour, with the middle half between $62.50 and $135.

The work is remote and paid by the hour or by the task. You write legal questions, draft model answers, and grade how well an AI model reasons about the law. The full list is on the law roles page, updated every day.

A note on the count: this article counts only roles whose title names legal work, such as attorney, counsel, paralegal or legal annotator. The law page sorts roles by the words in the whole listing, so it can also hold roles next to the law (on 14 October 2026, benefits counselors and a police role), and shows 69 today.

Who hires lawyers for AI training

The legal roles open today are at Meridial, micro1, RWS TrainAI, Scale AI, SME Careers, Terac, Welocalize and xAI.

Medians use the middle of each listed range. Rates are in US dollars; roles paid in other ways count in "Open roles" only.

6 of the 6 SME Careers legal listings give only a top rate ("up to"), so its median is a median of ceilings, not of what the work usually pays.

Attorney roles

micro1 has 38 of the legal roles, at a median listed rate of $130 an hour. Their titles read like law firm jobs: litigation attorney, contracts counsel, corporate attorney, in-house counsel. Some ask for bar admission or name the country whose law you must know, so read the requirements of each listing before you apply. The micro1 page explains how its AI interview works.

Legal roles by language

RWS TrainAI has 11 legal roles, at a median listed rate of $21.60 an hour. They are organised by language: each one asks for legal knowledge in one language and its legal system, to write, label or check legal questions and answers in that language. If you practise outside the United States, check these first.

What helps you get picked

  • Write clearly and fast. Most tasks end in written reasoning that someone else grades.
  • Know one area deeply. Many titles name a practice area rather than asking for a general lawyer.
  • Expect a test. Platforms screen with an interview or a sample task. The interview prep pages have practice questions.
