Freelance AI training jobs pay you to write, check or rate the answers of AI models, from home, as a contractor. On 14 October 2026 this site listed 1,738 open roles of this kind at 15 platforms, at a median listed rate of $36.50 an hour.
1,678 of those roles are listed as contract work. That usually means no salary and no promised hours: you are paid for approved work, by the hour or by the task, and a project can end when the client's need ends.

Three kinds of freelance AI work
- Language work. 993 roles ask for one language: rating search results, checking translations, or writing and correcting answers in that language. See roles by language.
- Expert work. People with a degree or years in a field write and grade hard questions in it. Today that is 142 coding roles, 183 in science and maths, 83 in medicine and 69 in law. See AI training jobs by profession.
- Generalist work. 136 roles ask for no single field: rating answers, labelling data and other short tasks.
How to start
- Pick the platforms that hire for your field or language. All open roles can be filtered by field, language, country and pay.
- Expect a test or an AI interview before the first paid task. The interview prep pages have practice questions.
- Never pay to apply. A real platform pays you. The guide is micro1 legit shows how to check a platform and spot fake recruiters.
AI jobs that are not AI training
A search for "AI jobs" also brings up engineering and research jobs at AI companies, where you build the models rather than train them with your answers. Those are usually salaried jobs that ask for a computer science background. The roles on this site are AI training roles only. If you want work you can start from home with the skills you already have, AI training is the part of the field that hires that way.
