Will AI replace your job?
Nobody can answer that from a job list, and this page does not try. What the list can show: which professions AI labs and their contractors pay today to write, check and grade the work their models attempt. 1,014 of the 2,900 open roles on this site ask for one of the professions below.

Some jobs, yes. All jobs, no. That is where the studies behind the video land, and the open question is which tasks go and who does the new ones. This page follows the video chapter by chapter, with the source and the date of every figure, and then shows what our own list adds: who is paid today to teach and check AI.

Two numbers that clash

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that one job will shrink by about a quarter in ten years: data entry keyers, down 25.5% between 2025 and 2035. On 26 October 2026, we counted 2,900 open listings at 23 platforms that help AI labs train their models. They ask for doctors, lawyers, programmers and translators. Both are true at once, and the rest of this page is about why.
What the big studies say
Video, 0:35: watch this part
| Source | What it says |
|---|---|
| IMF, 14 January 2024 | Almost 40% of jobs worldwide are exposed to AI, and about 60% in advanced economies. Exposed does not mean replaced: roughly half of the exposed jobs could benefit from AI, and in the other half AI could take over some of the main tasks. |
| McKinsey Global Institute, 25 November 2025 | Today's technology could, in theory, automate about 57% of US work hours. The report says this is not a forecast of job losses. |
| Goldman Sachs Exchanges, Joseph Briggs, 2 July 2026 | About 9% of US workers, around 15 million people, would shift to new jobs over ten years. Unemployment would rise by less than one percentage point a year. |
| Goldman Sachs Research, 13 August 2025 | An earlier estimate: 6% to 7% of US workers displaced if AI is widely adopted, in a range of 3% to 14%, with the effect expected to be temporary. With the way AI was used in 2025, 2.5%. |
| World Economic Forum, Future of Jobs Report 2025, 7 January 2025 | From data on more than 1,000 companies: by 2030, 92 million jobs displaced and 170 million created, a net gain of 78 million. That counts all the big trends together (technology, demographics, geoeconomics and the economy), AI included. |
Read these as directions, not as a forecast for your own job: each source says its numbers carry uncertainty.
Which jobs are shrinking, and which are growing

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics published its projections to 2035 on 27 August 2026. Total employment grows 3.5%. The group that shrinks fastest is office and administrative support, down 4.0%, and the BLS says automation tools, including those powered by AI, will likely reduce demand for several office jobs.
| Occupation | Projected change, 2025 to 2035 |
|---|---|
| Data entry keyers | −25.5% |
| Computer programmers | −7.3% |
| Customer service representatives | −5.3% |
| Software developers | +10.2% |
| Data scientists | +34.6% |

Programmers shrink and developers grow: same field, different tasks. The BLS now rates jobs by how exposed they are to AI and warns that its numbers do not capture the uncertainty of predicting the future.
The past points the other way. An OECD study (Lane, 2024) found that from 2012 to 2022, employment grew faster in the jobs more exposed to AI. In its Employment Outlook 2025 (9 July 2025), the OECD warned that young people face potential competition with AI for entry-level jobs. The pattern so far: routine tasks shrink first, and work built on judgment holds up better, at least for now.
How people actually use AI
Video, 4:14: watch this part
The Anthropic Economic Index (report of 15 January 2026) looks at how people use Claude. In November 2025, 52% of conversations on Claude.ai were people working with the AI and 45% were automation. Businesses using its API flip that: about three quarters were automation. The same tool gets used in two ways, depending on who is using it.
The work AI created: teaching it
Video, 4:55: watch this part
AI learns from people. Someone has to write expert answers, check the reasoning and flag the mistakes. That has become an industry: in June 2025, Reuters reported that Meta was putting $14.3 billion into Scale AI, one of the biggest companies in the field.
We counted the platforms ourselves. On 26 October 2026, AI Work Central listed 2,900 open roles at 23 platforms. 1,613 of them listed an hourly rate in US dollars, with a median of $50 an hour and a middle half from $24 to $85. Those are the rates the platforms list. Listed pay is not guaranteed pay, and a listing is not an acceptance.
Expertise gets the higher listed rates

That one median hides a gap between fields. The more specialised the field, the higher the listed rate, which fits the job studies above.
| Field | Open roles | With an hourly rate | Median listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Medicine | 147 | 106 | $100 |
| Law | 126 | 113 | $105 |
| Finance | 138 | 99 | $95 |
| Coding | 320 | 231 | $63 |
| STEM | 451 | 304 | $55 |
| Languages | 1,263 | 440 | $22 |
Read 26 October 2026 from the open roles of every platform, with the rules of the AI Training Pay Index. Listed pay, not guaranteed. Every bar of the video is a listed rate, none of it a promise.
McKinsey sees a similar shift in job postings: mentions of routine writing and research are falling, while demand is rising for skills like quality checks and teaching. Checking and teaching is what AI training work asks for.
So, will AI replace your job?
Video, 7:02: watch this part
Nobody can promise that yours is safe. Look at three things:
- The tasks in your job, not the title. Routine, repeatable tasks are the most exposed, like data entry.
- The parts that need judgment and deep knowledge. Those are what the AI data companies still ask people for.
- Learning to work with it. McKinsey found that demand for AI fluency in US job postings grew nearly seven times in two years.
Replace is too simple a word for what the data shows.

A role counts for a profession when its title names it (attorney, physician, translator and so on); a few count for two. Professions with at least 5 open roles have a page of their own; the others link to the role search. Medians are shown with 5 or more listed rates.
Medians leave out 649 Meridial roles that list $8 to $65 or $6 to $65: a range the platform puts on most of its roles, not the pay of each one.
Questions people ask
Will AI replace my job?
Nobody can promise that your job is safe. The studies we read say that some jobs shrink and others grow, and that the open question is which tasks go and who does the new ones. Look at three things: the tasks in your job rather than its title, the parts that need judgment and deep knowledge, and whether you can work with the tools.
Does "exposed to AI" mean "replaced by AI"?
No. The IMF said in January 2024 that almost 40% of jobs worldwide are exposed to AI, and about 60% in advanced economies. It said roughly half of the exposed jobs could benefit from AI, and that in the other half AI could take over some of the main tasks.
Which jobs does the US government expect to shrink and which to grow?
In its projections to 2035, published on 27 August 2026, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics lists data entry keyers at minus 25.5%, computer programmers at minus 7.3% and customer service representatives at minus 5.3%. Software developers are at plus 10.2% and data scientists at plus 34.6%. The BLS says its numbers do not capture the uncertainty of predicting the future.
What do AI training roles ask people to do?
People write expert answers, check an AI model's reasoning and flag its mistakes. Platforms post that work as paid roles, for doctors, lawyers, programmers, translators and other professions.
How much do AI training roles pay?
1,613 of the 2,900 open roles listed an hourly rate in US dollars today, with a median of $50 an hour and a middle half from $24 to $85. Medicine lists a median of $100. Law lists a median of $105. These are the rates platforms list, not promised pay, and a role is not a promise of being accepted.
